For Autumn/Winter 2020 Palomo Spain explored the concept of "Ecstasy" in its double meaning, referencing the mystic state of Catholic origin and the rave culture with its recreational drugs, alluding in particular to Ruta del Bakalao, the biggest Spanish clubbing movement in Valencia.
Designer Alejandro Gómez Palomo found inspiration for his new offering while visiting Toledo, where the Renaissance painter El Greco lived. The bright colour palette of the artist, known for his androgynous figures and for incorporating the religious theme into his work, has indeed found its way into the new collection.
With its flowers and candles, the show itself becomes a procession representing the Passion of the Christ during the Holy Week in Andalucia, back when the designer was still a child and took part in it.
Christine and the Queens, Violet Chachki and Kiddy Smile, in charge of the music as well, were also sitting front-row during the show.
This sketch, created during the show, is part of my Paris Fashion Week AW20 live illustrated coverage for L'Officiel Hommes Italia.
