DRIES VAN NOTEN SS20

Updated: Aug 10, 2021

“For each man kills the thing he loves. Yet each man does not die.” - Oscar Wilde

This is a drawing that I sketched live backstage at Dries Van Noten during Paris Fashion Week. It was also the first time that I was able to attend one of his shows and I was very excited about that because I have admired his work for a very long time.

The huge and almost total white backstage was the perfect background for such a colourful collection. For Spring/Summer 2020, Dries Van Noten brings sixty looks that mix and match powerful prints and bold and bright colours in a very natural way, something only the Belgian designer can do.

There were wild animal prints and reinvented suits and raincoats, some neutrals and black leather vests. However, the floral element, declined in very different and elegant ways, was a constant of the whole collection.

This sketch, created backstage, is part of my Paris Fashion Week SS20 live illustrated coverage for L'Officiel Hommes Italia.
