BERLUTI SS20

Updated: Aug 10, 2021

During Paris Fashion Week, as part of my live coverage for L'Officiel Hommes Italia, I had the chance to be able to sketch backstage at Berluti!

The Spring/Summer 2020 collection is extremely beautiful and full of bright colours and I instantly fell in love with it. The backstage was crowded with photographers, so it wasn't that easy to find my way with brushes and paper, but I finally managed to create this sketch of one of my favourite looks, rocked by model Braien Vaiksaar.

For his second offering at the helm of Berluti, artistic director Kris Van Assche successfully manages to create an appealing and graceful compromise between future and tradition, with a collection that explores a modern concept of menswear.

The Belgian fashion designer keeps building on a contemporary wardrobe, while naturally paying homage to the artisanal heritage of the Italian maison and its classic values.

One of the new prints, for example, has been reworked from an indecipherable 19th-century manuscript part of the Berluti archive.

The colour palette appears as bright as ever, including bright yellow, cobalt blue and fluo orange.
