During London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2019 I had the pleasure to be invited to sketch backstage for Shangai/London based designer Xiao Li. The collection draws inspiration from a summer holiday in Mauritius and the bright work of internationally renowned photographer Martin Parr.
Indeed, the colourful collection reflects a laid-back, carefree style of life that you can only have during summertime in a tropical island vacation. Just like the wind creates volume in the sails of a ship, Xiao Li created peculiar volumes for her SS19 collection, that is now part of her own signature.
Red and blue linear prints are used for several garments and were of great inspiration to me. That's why I asked model Thayane Cybelle to pose in her red striped look in the fashionable chaos of the backstage.
