EDELINE LEE SS19

Updated: Aug 10, 2021

“As a designer, I view myself to be in service to women, helping them to be well within their selves and giving them tools to construct and express their identities to the outside world. I think that all women can relate to the feeling of searching for and assuming diverse identities for different moments in their lives. Similarly, the fashion system has parallels to a woman's journey - fashion is a playground for experimentation with performance and identity.”

For Spring/Summer 2019, Canadian-British designer Edeline Lee keeps exploring the feminine state through design and performance. Indeed, her SS19 presentation was staged as a curated performance piece where the multiple roles of contemporary women are fully investigated.

The performance, played by models and professional dancers, repeated every fifteen minutes, showcased typical fashion industry moments like a red carpet arrival, a runway show and an afterparty.

It was a very funny and unique moment for this London Fashion Week, and I took some more extra time to enjoy the presentation resulting in one only sketch inspired by one of the models.
