Here's a quick sketch that I did during the Spring/Summer 2019 Presentation of Clio Peppiatt, that took place in the Discovery Lab during London Fashion Week.
For SS19, Clio Peppiatt, who founded her label in 2015, had recreated a mysterious beauty salon where models got their manicure done. The set design is a homage to John Waters' cult film "Female Trouble", which is also the title of the collection itself.
The American film director is indeed a source of inspiration for the young designer, along with other surrealist artists like Salvador Dali, Max Ernst and Eileen Agar.
For Spring/Summer 2019, the fashion designer explores another kind of feminity, highlighting the unattainable beauty myth that Female Trouble tears apart.
