CMMN SWDN SS19

Updated: Aug 11, 2021

This is a quick watercolour of model Eli Epperson, at Next Models, that I sketched during the CMMN SWDN Catwalk Show which opened Paris Fashion Week. Saif Bakir and Emma Hedlund, the creative duo behind the brand, are based in London, but they opted to show their SS19 collection in Paris, kicking off the menswear season in the French capital.

The collection, titled "It's a jumble out there", sees the designers reflect on the theme of overproduction. A concept that is as contemporary as ever and that other creative, like Bethany Williams or Christopher Raeburn for example, are actively exploring.

CMMN SWDN's take on this theme is quite peculiar and personal, as they chose to give a second life to pieces and fabrics from past collections, resulting in a very delicate and androgynous patchwork.

The collection includes revamped pieces of denim and beautiful sheer tank tops, with a selected colour palette of neutrals and greys with some lime greens and electric blues.

CMMN SWDN works once again with eyewear brand Ace & Tate and shoe designer Helen Kirkum on a footwear line that perfectly respects the theme of the collection, as it reworks the brand AW18 shoes.
