RÆBURN SS19

Updated: Aug 11, 2021

This is a quick watercolour sketch that I did during the Raeburn Spring/Summer 2019 catwalk show that I had the pleasure to attend. Sketching live during a show is always quite challenging, but I am pretty happy with the final outcome. The sketch features model Arjan Van Hesteren, at The Squad Management, rocking a red quilted parka.

Respecting once again the brand sustainable design manifesto, this collection is entitled REACT NOW, as an urgent request to everyone to help save our planet during these environmentally dramatic times.

Some NASA satellite images, showing receding glaciers, are part of the inspiration behind this SS19 collection. Those images are a creative call to arms and have been printed on pieces made from silk, organic cotton and recycled polyester.

This collection sees also a new collaboration with iconic brand Timberland, presenting pieces remade from original 1980s classic Timberland outerwear, deconstructed and then reconstructed into new garments like joggers, hoodies and parkas.

The message of this collection is stronger than ever: "We've always tried to look at things differently and this collection is no different. We're all part of the problem but the good news is that we're all part of the solution."
