I have been following Phoebe English and her work for a while now, I have already drawn some illustrations inspired by her collections before, but on the second day of London Fashion Week Men, for the very first time, I had the pleasure to sketch live during her AW18 presentation. For me, it was a moment of pure creativity and I sketched almost constantly during the two hours in which Phoebe English unveiled her latest proposition.
Consisting of six looks, the collection felt wearable and natural. I loved how the designer worked with volumes to give to each garment a very relaxed vibe.
Knitwear designer Helen Lawrence collaborated gracefully on the knit pieces of the collection.
The colour palette was essential and intriguing at the same time, with shades of navy, red and off-white. It was quite challenging trying to play with these colours. I was in love with the accessories and in particular with the rusty red bag that I would certainly rock myself.
I really enjoyed this presentation, also because as an illustrator I had some time to observe the garments and sketch wisely. I sat for a while and let the creativity flow. In a way I feel like during these exciting fashion days I am really learning a lot.
If you are enjoying my reports, though LFWM AW18 is over now, I still have more sketches and stories to tell from these days, so keep an eye on this page!
