On the last day of London Fashion Week I had the pleasure to live another exciting moment: sketching backstage during the Teatum Jones AW18 show! I really had a great time and although the pressure of sketching very fast, I am really happy with the work I did! Models were more than kind, they posed for me despite the time being very short.
The collection, 'Global Womanhood', is a genuine ode to the Teatum Jones woman: bold, confident, creative and smart. The show was introduced by the projection of a film where a collective of 25 women answer three questions about their most instinctive human emotions. Those women are from different backgrounds, ages and ethnicities and include Munroe Bergdorf, Kelly Knox, Foxes, Sophia Neophitou and Caryn Franklin. Those raw conversations are the main inspiration of this collection, those women share moments of joy, sadness and hope. So the collection itself is presented in three different chapters based on these three emotions. For each chapter, there's a different colour palette, pattern and fabric.
Joy is translated in a palette of bold red and burgundy tones and neon pinks. Sadness manifests in a palette of deep navy and royal blue. Hope is brought together in a fresh palette of white, ivory and cream. As for shapes signature, oversized statement coats are mixed with poetic dresses. For this season Teatutm Jones has worked with John Smedley on a capsule of knitwear dresses, oversized cropped roll necks and sweaters.
A very special thanks to the whole Teatum Jones team and Carl and Julia of CMPR for having me!!
