TONSURE AW18

Updated: Aug 11, 2021

The first day of London Fashion Week Men was, without a doubt, filled with a great energetic vibe. I had the pleasure to attend several shows and presentations like the one hosted by Tonsure.

The Scandinavian brand, founded by designer Malte Flagstad in 2014, hosted an interactive presentation early in the morning, introducing their brand officially to the London audience and opening the Discovery Lab, a new experimental space for creatives in the heart of The Store Studios.

The whole presentation lasted about one hour and I spent all my time sketching live some of the models and the most interesting designs. It is always challenging and exciting to draw live during an event. I need to be fast and to keep it simple. And I have to admit that I am pretty satisfied with those two sketches.

The collection was quite clean and minimal, with great attention to fabric like Merino wool. Tonsure was indeed awarded the International Woolmark Prize and The Woolmark Company supported the show. The whole inspiration for the collection comes from 1980s New York: a very colourful projection of a twisted Manhattan matched the show.

I am quite impressed with this young brand and I look forward to seeing it growing season by season, as I look forward to more shows during the last days of LFWM.
