LOU DALTON AW19

Updated: Aug 10, 2021

On day 2 of London Fashion Week Men's Autumn/Winter 2019, I had the honour to work with fashion designer Lou Dalton to create an illustrated view of her new collection.

I have been following the career of this talented designer for a while now, even before moving to London, I have always loved her flawless style and technique, so I can proudly say that it has been a dream come true to have Lou trusting me to create an exclusive view of her exquisite work.

The presentation took place in the Discovery Lab, as part of the official schedule of LFWM, with about 15 models rocking the precious yet functional garments. Once again, Lou Dalton works with John Smedley on the knitwear pieces of the collection, while she starts an exciting collaboration with Gloverall on outerwear, that will be available exclusively at Browns Fashion by the end of the month.

For her AW19 collection, Lou Dalton draws inspiration from "the severe style" movement, adopting the utilitarian silhouettes of the industrial workers, while the sparing palette of contrasting vibrant and muted tones is inspired by the life in the Soviet 1960s.

It was not an easy task to translate the peculiar colour palette of the collection into my sketches. I really had an amazing time creating those live drawings and trying to capture the beauty of each piece. After a quick warm-up backstage, I fully started drawing during the two-hour presentation. I must say that I am pretty satisfied with those final sketches and so very grateful for this opportunity.

I can't thank enough Lou and her whole team for having me, for their warm welcome and for allowing me to create this series. A very special thanks to Adrian, who first appreciated my work and to the models who were so patient with me.
